[28/10/09 Interview] Love and work are equally important; Myolie Wu pursues a steady love

Myolie Wu’s new EP 《Love Holic》(愛情狂), actually does her love view have unique merits? Guess she is not just a love holic, but also a workaholic. Mentioning that she will be busy working in December, extremely busy, went so far as words with excitement, and indeed she has a passion for work!

Myolie Wu’s new EP 《Love Holic》(愛情狂) is scheduled to release on 21 November. It will be a collection of 6 Cantonese and 1 Mandarin songs. The theme will be love songs; In reality, is Myolie a love holic?

Faced problems in relationship
Being in a relationship is a very tiring thing which requires lots of effort. However, people usually are willing to waste their youth on this bet without knowing if there will be any returns. They don’t even know is the ending is what they wanted. This is my view on love, so I have also faced many rejections and problems at this area

“But I still want to pursue love, even if meets a setback or feeling unhappy, because there must be something happy that can make oneself in a state of insane mind, just like what others said “A thing like love needs to have few pain to get few love”. While life must certainly have love, moreover in life, how long can one’s love-affair be? I have always naively thought that when I am 50 years old, I will still be able to love my other half deeply, so sweet.”

However Myolie denied that she is crazy over love, she thinks that one can be a love holic, but also can be a workaholic, love and work are of equal importance.

Confessing herself as workaholic
“This year is my second year stepping into the music industry, and will be releasing my second album, I still want to continue to sing, that’s why I have to work harder. But talking about end of year, I will be very busy. In November, I will be filming and promoting my album at the same time. In December will be worse, I will have my mini concert, TVB Anniversary awards presentation, many music awards all going on. Therefore I would like to thank my parents for bringing me to the world that I am a person who is not afraid of hard work, haha. I am aware that I am also a workaholic,. Related to non-working stuffs, I will actually feel that I am quite useless.

Last year Myolie’s debut album 《Evolve》 made her won 4 major Newcomer awards. But this year’s opponents are all the female singers in Hong Kong. Regarding the awards, Myolie said that it will not be her turn, she just wants to sing well, hope that everyone can see that she has worked hard, and does not mind if she can get an award or not. Being a part of the music industry, one will need to dress up beautifully, and attend every award presentations.

[21/08/09 Interview] Myolie’s Principles of Getting Up Early (Popular food recommendation #36)

Myolie Wu Profile
English name Myolie, 1999 Miss Hong Kong 3rd place and signed a contract with TVB. Currently one of TVB’s fadan, her drama serials including “Golden Faith”, “Wars of In-Laws”, “To Grow With love”, “Burning Flame III” etc. Followed by signing a contract with Neway Star in 2008 for a singer. Her debut album “Evolve” was officially released in November the same year, hits songs including “Solo Travel”, “Fortunately” etc. Receives many praises about it, and even won Newcomer awards at 4 major music awards ceremony.

Myolie has been busy filming and recording, her daily rest is very limited. However she has in mind that she has to get up of bed no later than 10am because she feels that time in the morning is very precious, if missed, it feels like as though something is lacking the entire day. “I personally cannot sleep too much, I will get headache if I wake up too late, that’s why I am used to getting up early.

Loves to make bread in the morning

When wake up in the morning, the first thing I’d do is switch on the TV to see the news, then open the window curtains to allow sunlight to infiltrate into the house, making the house very lively, and then I will take a look at my cats and greet them good morning. After that I will think of what to eat for breakfast, if I do not want to go out, I would stay at home and bake bread. I love to make bread, because I feel that by making the flour into dough, watching it turn into its shape into the oven gives me a very satisfying feeling, a very rewarding feeling too. Adding on, besides me trying it on my own, I will also let my family or friends to try it. (Where do you learn your baking skills?) I just learn from the baking books, trying it and it was successful. All these are just good exercise, during the process of baking will help to perspire too. (If you go out to eat, what would you eat as your breakfast?) If I go out and eat, I prefer to eat something light for example fried eggs, hams etc. Maybe because I used to study in Ireland, thus I prefer Western-style breakfast.” Myolie said when she wakes up every morning, she would drink a cup of green tea as it can be for anti-oxidation and anti-aging, and joked that no wonder the Japanese people are in good health.

Myolie mentioned that her favourite is Western-style breakfast which is located at Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui – Crema Coffee is Myolie’s best recommendation. The reason for this location is that it is relatively quiet, together with the aroma of brewing coffee. And which attracts Myolie the most is the cute Latte Art designs on top of the coffee, each cup has different designs for example cute animals, hearts etc. Myolie said that as long as drinking this cup of lovely coffee in the morning would definitely bring about a happier mood the entire day. In addition this breakfast set with everyday’s freshly homemade bread and muffins, even if ain’t in the shop itself to eat, by taking-away and sitting outside the shop, sitting under the sun and tasting the food at the same time is also a pleasure moment.

The design of the restaurant’s brick walls gives a very westernized feel.
