[19/10/09 Interview] Myolie Wu: Bosco Wong is not the right man
She is one of TVB fadans, and has spent her youth years in Northern Ireland capital of Belfast. Once she wanted to be a doctor, and has studied biochemistry at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. But because she was chosen at Miss Hong Kong Pageant, thus entering the entertainment industry. She and Bosco Wong have had their rumours for 4 years. In her eyes, he is just a “rumour”, and is not the man she is seeking for. Inside the VIP room for the event Rubis Chambre De Beaute in Suzhou, Myolie is looking forward to her real love.
Wanted to be a doctor
Myolie Wu was born in a middle-class family, her father is a civil servant. His allowance enabled his children to study abroad, thus Myolie has chosen a relatively less costly school fees in Northern Ireland capital of Belfast. When Myolie was a student at that time, her academic performance was good. After completing her high school, she returned to Hong Kong for sit examinations in order to enter Hong Kong University of Science in Biochemistry. “My results was alright when I was young, because my language is not good when I just arrived in Northern Ireland, some I couldn’t keep up with the progress. After that there was one Hong Kong student who came, she was excellent in all aspects. So I treat her as my imaginary enemy in my heart, and then I slowly managed to catch up with her.” Even though the results were good, but Myolie has some regrets pertaining to her academic studies. “I really want to study medicine, and be a doctor. But I did not sit for the examination. Otherwise today I might be sitting in the clinic, and not sitting here to accept an interview.”
At her first year in University, Myolie and her classmate participated in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant. After achieving 2nd runner-up, Myolie had not decided whether she should enter the entertainment industry. “The professors helped me. They said that they could help me to retain the student status. If I feel that my progress is not that good, I can go back to study. Moreover, my school and TVB are very near, just beside one another.” And this, Myolie started her pathway as an artiste. Two years later, after seeing herself being progressive in the entertainment industry, she decided to drop out of school. “I feel that being in this line is also quite good, and I also feel quite bad to have my name in the school list.”
Rumoured boyfriend is not the right man for her
Myolie’s life is still relatively simple till today, the one that occupy most of her spare time is her 9 cats at home. It is said that people who like cat will usually tend to be lonely. Myolie laughed “Then I must be very lonely! Those who like cat may not be so enthusiastic, and also scared to get close to people. Just like me, sometimes I do not know how to communicate with others, I am scared until it will let people to think that I have any motives or pretenses.”
The reporter asked her if she is really lonely? She answered “In Hong Kong magazines always report that my life is quite fun-filled, but in reality I do not lead that kind of life.” Obviously such an answer is not satisfactory. After several times, she finally faced up questions from the reporters, and talked about her 4-years rumours with TVB male artiste Bosco Wong. “Frankly speaking, he is just my rumoured boyfriend, and not the right man for me. Because there are too many women who like him, and I want a have a sense of security. Need not be wealthy, but must be self-motivated. When we work hard, we will definitely earn enough money. Who does not like money? But it depends on how to earn it.”
There was once a guy who touched her heart, but in the end they broke up. “It’s my fault, I missed it. He appeared not the most appropriate time. Two people meet too early, and maybe broke up because of that. When meet too late, maybe the other half has appeared. Moreover, I was more greedy when I was young rather than now. And will keep thinking if I am not sure if I can meet a better guy.” When asked Myolie what kid of guys can touch her heart? “Mature, interesting, caring, able to take care of me, taller than me, bigger than me, and of course he must also like cats. So how, do you have a good guy to introduce me?”
